family news

WM and I celebrated out 34th anniversary yesterday. He gave me these (which I pre-bought in the book sale I mentioned in a previous post):
I gave him a clock movement (the clock I bought him many years ago had stopped working) and a book (bought in the same sale):
In not so happy news, Younger Grandson was rushed to the Emergency Room yesterday afternoon and was admitted to hospital for observation and tests late last night. It appears he had a "fit" (febrile convulsion) the cause of which may never be known. The most common reason is infection but all the blood tests show that he has none!

We are hoping he will be released tomorrow. DD is, of course, staying at the hospital; at the moment we have Older Grandson - his daddy will collect him some time this evening so Grandad can get some sleep before starting work at 6am tomorrow!

If you are the praying kind, we would very much appreciate your prayers. The doctor says that one possibility is "epilepsy" so we are standing united against this prognosis.

I will keep you informed as we get further news.

  1. That sounds nasty. I'll be praying for you all. I was told there are lots of causes for that in little ones. Even a bad fever can do it. Tonsillitis was a cause in one of mine with an associated high temperature.

Congratulations on the anniversary, even if it is overshadowed a bit by other things.

  3. My daughter has seizures. You never get over how scary it is to witness one. Hopefully they can find the cause and give treatment. We will keep all in our prayers.

    Also...happy anniversary

  6. Congratulations on your anniversary.

Sorry to hear about the little fella, I hope he is doing ok, and the doctors give you a positive diagnosis of nothing serious.

  7. I really hope your grandson is gonna feel better soon and that it's not anything permanent! You all are in my thoughts!

  8. I hope all goes well for your grandson. My brother (now in his 60's) had severe 'fits' as a child, the cause of which was never really diagnosed. He 'grew out' of them to become a very healthy child and adult, but I still remember the family anxiety and distress.

  10. happy anniversary!

A little girl I know had a febrile convulsion recently, as response to a sudden rise in body temperature. Apparently a fever can do this to little ones. I hope he's ok!

  11. My oldest son had convulsions when he was little...about 2 1/2 years old. All they could point to was a fever of indeterminate origin. It never happened again. (He turned 19 last September)

Praying that the Lord will take care of you all during this ordeal.
