anonymous comments no longer accepted

Last week, I was thrilled to see that my blog had received over 100,000 hits in its lifespan.

Today, I am not thrilled that six out of six comments left on my blog were irrelevant spam! Do these spammers really think that bloggers are so gullible that we don't recognise poor English and irrelevant content?

Anyway, as of today I have disabled anonymous comments -- I truly hope that doesn't discourage any genuine reader, especially a follower, from leaving a comment.

And, if you're wondering about my absence from the blogisphere, I have been busy dealing with family "issues" -- one good, one not so good -- and really haven't been in the mood for anything, including crafting or blogging! Sorry, I hope to get back to normal soon!

  1. I was wondering where you were. Hope things get resolved for the best soon.

  2. I did the same thing. For a while I found the anonomous notes funny, but they eventually wore me down.

I hope things look better soon.

  3. Hi Lynne,

That's why I have a comment moderator on my comments. Someone was using my blog as a link to a p**n dating site via my comments - that was over a year ago. I was wondering why I had lots of vistors from certain countries that usually don't visit my blog. I had to go back and delete their comments and report them to blogger as spam.

I had it again recently where someone was linking their site on you-tube to my blog, which was a how to get rich quick scam. I had 38 hits from Russia in one day - it made me a bit nervous. I almost deleted my blog. I reported it to blogger and it seemed to stop, but what was scary was that I didn't know how they were doing it. I only knew from the outgoing link on the traffic feed on my side bar.
    But it is really annoying.

I don't think not having anonymous comments on your blog would deter people. I think it is just part of blogging now - you have to be careful.

Good to see you're back. I hardly touched my UFOs for the Finished Project but I started something new. I find knitting garter st with one colour a bit boring after a while but I have almost finished one sleeve. I had to pick up some Noro to get my colour hit LOL ;)

I hope your family issues are ok.

  7. Well, I got hit with spam as soon as I take away my security on Comments--yes, spammers are a royal pain.

We will pray for you and wait patiently, miss you when you are absent from blogging!

  8. Sorry to hear the spammers have found you, honestly they just make internet life a pain sometimes. Hoping the family "issues" aren't of the truly dramatic or long term type and that all involved recover quickly and uneventfully.

  10. Same here!! I've had someone link to my blog and it's annoying, also the spammers had tapped into me. I reported it too and it seemed to do the trick. Hope your family issues have been resolved.
    Cheers, Anita.

  12. Sorry to hear you're going through a tough and distracting time, Lynne. The last thing you need is those horrible Anonymous comments clogging up your mailbox. Since I disallowed Anonymous comments after my recent issues I've had no more problems, so I hope things will be better for you now too. Praying your other issues will be resolved soon too. xx

Hi. Thanks for dropping in. I look forward to reading your comment.
I like to answer comments; if you are "no-reply blogger" I will try my best to get back to you on your blog! I'm not on FaceBook so I can't contact you there!
