Happy Birthday Nanna

My maternal grandmother [Nanna] was a big influence on my life. Today is the 100th anniversary of her birth.

She taught me to crochet, use a sewing machine and took us on outings. Our annual holidays - two weeks at the beach - were paid for by my maternal grandparents and I didn't know until it was too late to show my appreciation.

Thank you Lord that she was a part of my life for 32 years. Not everyone has their grandparents for so long.

Gran-nan, Nanna, Mum, Bessie - 1909-1989 - rest in peace.

edited to add: For those who've already read this post, my apologies; Blogger was supposed to hold it until today but for some strange reason, published it in the wee hours of Sunday! Thanks, Delighted Hands, for you subtle correction!

  1. Do you mean 100th anniversary of her BIRTH? I also had a gram that was such an important influence in my life......

  2. Your grandmother sounds like she was an amazing woman!

  3. Sounds so much like my grandmother. Taught me to knit and crochet, took me on holidays and to the theatre.

The only thing I regret about not having my own children is that I'd LOVE to be a grandmother.

Good ones are a bit special, aren't they?

  4. Yes, you were lucky to have her for so long. I did not know or have relationships with any of grandparents - I am often envious of people who had that.

  5. Grandma's are the ultimate.

    God bless them all.
