Entering a new phase

No, it has nothing to do with my birthday yesterday - I reached 50 last year.

I'm soon to be a mother-in-law! That's right: our one-and-only child, DD, became engaged earlier this week. All the relevant people have been told so now I can make a public announcement:

My baby's getting married! Isn't that exciting?

  4. Congratulations indeed! Will she be living close by after she is married?! My oldest son was married last spring and we all flew out (he lives in the northwest of USA)-quite an adventure-but the level of involvement is so different for a daughter.....savor the moments!

  8. happy berfday and congrats - just you wait !! :]
and I think delightedhands is probably right.
So far I have a son married and although mu DDIL is lovely, they live 2+ hours away and she is very very close - physically as well as emotionally - to her mum so I'm sort of extraneous.
    - my DD will be a different matter when and if that happens.
